Worth Township, Michigan Taxpayers' Web Site
Paeth vs. Worth is a precedent setting legal case, being one of the largest procedural due process and First Amendment retaliation verdicts rendered in the nation. It is the largest such verdict ever handed down in the Eastern District of Michigan in the United States Federal Court system. Wonder why? Read Judge Lawson's opinion that espouses just how egregious and "ham-handed" the actions of Clerk Marcy Bartniczak and other responsible Worth Township officials were. The township board just decided to spend even more of our tax dollars by taking the Paeth case to the U.S. Court of Appeals. Now that the jury has spoken, and after reading Judge Lawson's strong opinion about their "ham-handed" actions, do our officials really think that they are going to win this case on appeal? If you don't have the stomach to wade through all the details, the files have been highlighted and annotated with my comments in text boxes to help focus in on the key issues.
